focus areas and key priorities

  • Make the midland electorate the priority

I will put the Midland Electorate first and champion the many issues the community wants to be addressed. I will represent the Midland Electorate free from Party Politics and vested interests.

  • Cost of living

I will not support wasteful government spending on vanity projects when so many are experiencing a cost of living crisis. I will support sensible measures to address equity and income imbalance.

  • engage with key stakeholders

I will hold regular meetings across all levels of Government, including the Shire of Mundaring, the City of Swan and border State and Federal MPs to ensure the needs of the Midland Electorate are being addressed collaboratively.

  • support local businesses

Having owned and operated small businesses in Midland and the Swan Valley, I understand the issues they face and the support they need. I will engage with local businesses and advocate to ensure proper consultation is undertaken before government decisions that directly affect them occur. I will support measures that encourage local businesses to grow and thrive, building community through local activation and local employment.

  • putting the community first

Engagement begins with conversation and active listening. Community inclusion is at the core of my commitment to you. My mandate is to the people who elected me, and not a Political Party. I will make myself available to meet with you, engage with you and listen to you. I will always seek to build, grow and foster connectivity and civic pride by putting the community first.

  • prioritise midland’s traffic chaos

I live in Midland and drive through the Midland area daily, so I have a lived understanding of the complex and long-standing Midland traffic issues. I will seek to commission a comprehensive traffic study of Midland and its road network usage to fully understand traffic movement. I will seek to find solutions before any more ad-hoc Main Roads planning and expenditure occurs.

  • former swan districts hospital site

I will seek a responsible and speedy outcome for the former Swan Districts Hospital site that has been abandoned, neglected and seemingly forgotten for the past 10 years.

  • environmental protection

I will advocate for better planning and design to provide environmental protection for our air, water, native flora & fauna. I will work to protect the loss of mature trees and engage with community ‘Friends’ groups to support the great work they do.

  • heritage protection

The Midland area has a rich history and a wonderful collection of historic buildings dating back to the earliest European settlement. I support the preservation of our built heritage, believing that we should encourage our unique and special area to be preserved at every opportunity for the generations to come.

  • third party right of appeal

WA is the only state in Australia where a party affected by a development decision approved by the council or JDAP has no way by which they can appeal. I will work to introduce a third-party right-of-appeal system.

  • Noise wall impacts movida

I will work with the residents of the existing suburbs affected by the Movida noise wall, and across all levels of government to find a solution to the reflected noise that is negatively impacting them. This includes working to review the State Planning Policy 5.4 (4.3)

  • NBN and blackouts - jane brook

Jane Brook residents have been telling me that that they are still waiting on rollout of NBN and they want this addressed. I will make this a key priority and advocate on behalf of effected residents to get this resolved.

  • Election 'Cash Splash"

Every $$$ promised by a re-elected Cook Government is money that has been identified as worthy projects and needed by the community. When elected I will ensure that the community groups and projects receive the promised money, and I will consult with them to ensure meets their needs.
